Barwon Downs Barwon Downs is situated between Birregurra and Forrest just 20 minutes from Lorne & the Surf Coast, 20 minutes from Colac, 50 minutes back to Geelong, 65 minutes to Avalon Airport and 95 minutes from Melbourne CBD & Tullarmarine Airport. The countryside rolls on rising and falling again for as far as you can see. This is some of Australia's best dairy country evident from the lush green pasture. No Motels or Apartments within cooee but there is a variety of private rental properties available if you are prepared to look around the Internet to locate them. 	The entire district has the Otways forest as a backdrop to the south with only a few miles of rugged ranges interrupting the view to the sea. There are 3 ways to access the Great Ocean Road from Barwon Downs. The main road continues to the south west via Forrest to Skenes Creek a few kilometres east of Apollo Bay. Travelling east to Deans Marsh and then turning to the south you will arrive on the coast in Lorne near the Erskine river bridge. You can also travel the dirt tracks over the mountain and arrive in any of the smaller towns along the coast. Kennett River and Lorne are the easiest to navigate too on the dry weather access roads.
